The Iowa Idea: Ben McDougal
“You don’t need this book.”
In this episode of The Iowa Idea Podcast, I’m joined by Ben McDougal. Ben is a tech founder, multimedia marketer, entrepreneurial ecosystem builder and inspired author in the connected era. He evolves ideas into reality and accelerates others through the art of connection.
We dig into Ben’s journey as an entrepreneur and network connector, starting with his early foray into web design and SEO, to his work as an intrepreneur, to his process authoring You Don’t Need This Book: Entrepreneurship in the Connected Era. With the publishing of his book and his entrepreneurial spirit, Ben created his own publishing company. We explore his role in the 1 Million Cups initiative, community building project, from the Kaufman foundation, and the importance of moving “at the speed of trust.” I appreciated Ben’s focus on accelerating others through community and the “art of connection.” He describes the power of having his hero, Seth Godin, contribute to Ben’s book.
It was a pleasure having Ben on the podcast and describe where he gets his innovative energy. I hope you enjoy the episode. Please check the link in the description for $5.00 off if you buy Ben’s book – it’s like he’s buying you a cup of coffee. Use “IOWA” to save $5 on signed softcovers ordered direct.
